“Pizza One Two Three” is a serious educational game designed to introduce students to fractions designed based on the Ontario Math curriculum (2020).
The player is a pizza chef who is tasked with dividing pizzas into the proper portions for the customers in a limited time. In the process, they will sharpen their mathematical fraction skills so they can handle their job correctly.
The game starts off with a basic lesson about fractions and then tests the student’s knowledge of the concepts.
In this project, I worked both as a programmer and a graphic designer. For the programmer part, I mainly helped with reviewing the scripts and making some refinements to them. Also, I wrote some scripts which served as templates which worked as a library containing many other game features which can be easily adapted into the game. Then I tried to fix the bug we have for the game, for example, the screen cutting down issue. As for the graphics design, I created 10 art assets in total. I designed most of them with three steps using Procreate with Apple Pencil. The three steps are sketching, colouring and removing the background. Moreover, I designed the graphical user interface. I added the background picture for each scene, draw the portraits for the dialogue systems, adjusted the animation and resized the topping collider for the game.
